Welcome autumn!

if we pretend we're at the beach, will we feel cooler?

It is hot. It is always hot in August. We have been blessed this year with more rain than usual. Sometimes, it is cool enough in the morning or after the sun goes down to spend a little time outside. With all those blessings, I still am longing for the ocean.

Sand dollars and driftwood gathered by my dear mother-in-law. Shells gathered by my dear daughter. I love having their treasures on our table.

Beach, desert, mountains or in the city, where ever you are, wishing you a wonderful winding down of summer.

Linking to Susan at Between Naps on the Porch and Kathleen at Let's Dish. Thank you, ladies.

This is my kind of beach scene...no sand in my bikini! Thanks for inviting us for a peak. Cherry Kay

Oh, how pretty! I do feel the breeze even on the Texas Gulf coast! :)
Your table looks wonderful with all of your beachy things. The shells and sand dollars look so cute and I love your pretty outdoor setting.
Thank you so much for popping in to see me.
Be a sweetie,

You set the most beautiful tables!

This tablescape looks so great because of the spots of shade and sun on your table. Having your table bare and the pretty splashes of blue around just make it perfect. Nicely done!

Barbara, it's so nice to see you back in Blogland -- and with a tablescape to boot! I do love your colors and textures, and your napkins especially caught my eye. Just beautiful!

What a lovely setting. Love the napkins! The shell under the cloche is fabulous. I love the placemats on the table and the blue makes everything way way cooler. Great table..
do you leave your table outside year round? What kind of finish is on it.. I know weird questions.. we just built our table for outside out of cedar. Now I have to sand and seal and I'm not sure because it will stay outside year round!

Oh so lovely setting Barbara. I have been sitting outside in the morning and evening also a very nice treat in August. Our temps are about the same here in Az. as I am north of the big city and so glad not to be down in the jungle of extreme. I have extreme enough as far as I am concerned. Only a month and half to go before we can be back to some pleasant temps. Can't wait and also to see more of your great images in your area.

The beach and shell tablescape is perfectly wonderful. I love the large shell placed under the cloche in your centerpiece! Your wooden table makes for a great outdoor setting. I like the star shape salad stacked on the aqua plate and then the paisley napkin. Great Photos!

Thanks, Pam

Great beach table, Barbara. Love the aqua color. I like the cutlery tied with the hemp. Beautiful stemware as well. Have a super weekend! :)

You seriously have one of the best outdoor tables around. It's perfectly rustic without being a splinter haven! I just love it! I need to charm someone into making me one that will accommodate up to 14. Hmmmmm...I had better get crackin' on that! :-) The cool, soothing colors you used here are perfect! I love the way you picked up on the cool blue in the napkins through your dinner plates and fun, chunky candles. The stemware tied together like that looks fabulous! I will have to pilfer that idea, sister!!! The simple addition of the sand dollar is a real game changer. Very sharp! Lovely photos, and a perfect summer setting! Glad to hear you've been getting some rain this summer. We're still like Snap, Crackle & Pop here in the Kansas City area! At least the temperatures are down now. Actually got down into the upper 50s last night!

Barbara, This is a beautiful beach table. You certainly captured the mood. I love your outdoor table. It reminds me of driftwood and the star plates are so pretty. The stars of the show are the starfish, pretty shell and of course the driftwood so lovelingly collected.
Your colors are spot on. Thanks for sharing.
I coming over from Kathleen's Let's Dish and I am a new follower.
Have a great weekend, Ginger

I just discovered your blog through the help of mutual followers. Your table-scape is lovely and yes, it looks as if it might just bring the temperature down. I think that having a beach theme in the desert is a grand idea.
Your photography is outstanding. I especially love the desert flower shots.
I am your newest followers and I would be delighted if you would see it in your heart to follow me back. I enjoy making new blogging friends and I have a true love of the Arizona desert. I lived in Tucson one year while I was a teenager (1958), and somewhere around there I left a little piece of my heart. Have a marvelous day, Connie :)

Barbara~ What a gorgeous table with the dappled sunlight dancing over it! It is always hot in August here. We had a brief reprieve this weekend but much more hot weather to come before fall arrives. I love your handsome shell in your cloche as a centerpiece and those wonderful chargers!

It looks like you did, indeed, cool things off, but were you able to stay outside long enough to dine at this lovely table?

Barbara - You are BETTER than Martha Stewart. Honestly. I'm sure she doesn't do her own photography! :-D

Hi darling, this table is out of this world! Your attention to detail is amazing.. I've had sand dollars stored away from my childhood, thanks for reminding me of that fond memory. hugs ~lynne~

You KNOW how much I love this! You set the most amazing tables I've ever seen. Love that there are family items included in your beach stash. Our week at the beach went by way too fast. Wish I could set a table like this to remind me of what a wonderful time we had. Guess I'll just have to watch my video again!
