a summery table by the pool...

Thank you for all your kind words about my hummingbird shots. I will share some photo tips with you soon.

I had to laugh as I was downloading these photos. I usually pay attention to the details. I was trying to beat the heat, obviously my mind thought that was much more important. The handles on the tray aren’t down. The tray isn’t sitting straight on the table. I didn’t switch out the flatware, as planned. There even was a grasshopper that decided he liked lavender too. (I sure hope I didn’t bring him in the house with me!) Well, I could go on and on. As you are looking through the shots, straighten things in your mind because it is thundering now and I can’t reshoot. I am sure am hoping for rain!

The clouds make for dull skies and pool in the photos but do help to bring out the colors on the table.

You can see some of the bougainvillea and crepe myrtle in the background of these photos. I have used them in previous tablescapes and they have held up very well as cut flowers.

May I just say one more time, I sure hope I didn’t bring that grasshopper in the house with me.

Please join Susan and the other tablescapers for the 100th Tablescape Thursday.

  2. Hi Barbara,
I love your table. Its bright and colorful and summerly. And how nice is this grashopper, I love that too. By the way, I guess, it is everywhere the same problem. I always discover lots of mistakes after I have shot my photos. For example I always iron the tablecloth for TT very exact but it is on the photos always wrinkled. Your table is perfect.
    Greetings, Johanna

  8. Love your tablecloth!! It's a perfect companion with the lavender. and although it was overcast, the cheery dishes made up for the lack of sun. Beautiful. Who cares if the tray handles are up or down with such a delightful setting! Bravissimo.

  19. Oh, I always love blue and yellow! And the little bit of lavender sets it off so nicely. I only see the mistakes in my own photos--crooked silverware, moved napkins...I could sit at your table even if it is hot!!!!

My granddaughter screams when a bug is in the car with us...it makes the hair on the back of my neck stick up.

  33. Oooh, this table is so inviting, crisp, fresh. I love the grasshopper story, and the prospect of impending rain! The subtle color of the glasses just sets off the whole table. Thank you for your gracious comments on my Breakfast With the Chickens table. Love the McK-Childs Courtley Check dinnerware - I use it in lots of different settings - very versatile and fun.

  34. Gorgeous colors, and so "French" too! This is a beautiful table! I was fighting the rain also. My husband had to help me move the table under the porch while it poured, then the sun came out and I was able to finish up. Yours turned out great!!
